Dr. Krysta Mc Donald, Ph.D.

Psychologist (supervised practice)*

Within these settings, she has had the pleasure of providing both psychological assessments and therapeutic interventions with children as young as toddlers, adolescents, and families. Her therapeutic work involves helping to strengthen caregiving relationships, supporting parents and caregivers to tailor their approach to youth experiencing mental health and behavioural challenges, and working individually with teens presenting with a range of issues. She has experience treating behaviour disorders, anxiety, depression, OCD, selective mutism, trauma, complex family dynamics, and other mental health concerns. She is very comfortable working with diverse populations, including members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community. Her approach centers on the therapeutic relationship and moving from there into developing insight and gaining access to new or different options. She draws from many different modalities to do so, including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Emotion Focused Family Therapy, and Interpersonal Therapy.

Dr. Krysta Mc Donald’s experience has truly highlighted the need to effectively identify, tease apart, and address the many factors contributing to any given challenge, from non-diagnostic concerns to highly complex or multiple diagnoses and trauma. She applies this understanding across all areas of her work, including assessments, interventions, and consultations, in order to support youth and caregivers to develop and reach their goals.

Education: Master of Arts and Ph.D. in Clinical-Developmental Psychology,
License as a Psychologist in Supervised Practice, with the College of Psychologists of Ontario.
